Honestly, any type of short pasta works great macaroni salad. If it starts sticking together you can run it under warm water to break it up! If you want to cook the macaroni off more than an hour before toss with a little olive oil after draining. The drier your pasta is, the less it will absorb so make sure your macaroni is drained very well first.
